Those that provide care and treatment to people living in long-term care facilities were honored on Monday for their dedication and hard work.

Arkansas Advocates for Nursing Home Residents held a rally at the state's capitol in honor of National Long-Term Care Residents Week.

Advocates say more than 2,800 nursing home residents that have either been hurt or died this year.

President of the AANHR Martha Deaver says all nursing home residents and their families should be aware of their rights.

"So few residents and family members are aware that there are specific laws in place to protect the rights of nursing home residents and long-term residents in our state," she says.

Deaver says Arkansas Advocates for Nursing Home Residents is a good place to start for information before you place your loved one in a nursing home.

Attorney General Dustin McDaniel appeared at the rally as the keynote speaker.
