Man Dead After Confrontation with Russellville Police

The Russellville Police Department responded to a third call to a residence in the 400 block of West I Street around 3 p.m. Friday.
That call had come from a Crisis Hotline, saying police might be needed on the scene.
Russellville Police Department Officer's witnessed the man coming out of his house with a firearm in his hand.
An Officer fired his service weapon, striking the suspect.
He reports being concerned for the safety of himself and fellow officers.
The police immediately contacted Pope County EMS.
The suspect was transported to Saint Mary's Medical Center where he was later pronounced deceased.
Arkansas State Police were contacted to take over the investigation.
The Officer involved in the shooting is on Paid Administrative Leave until the State Police have completed their investigation.
An Internal review of the incident will be conducted by the Russellville Police Department.
The suspects name is not being released at this time.
