Pope County Returns $1 Million To FEMA

Pope County Judge Jim Gibson told KARK the grant was to buy new radio equipment, however after the sheriff's department received the money, a stipulation was put in place saying the equipment had to be used 80% of the time on waterways.
Pope County Sheriff's Deputies do patrol lakes, but couldn't meet the requirement.
Judge Gibson said they will reapply for a grant that better fits their needs.
