Razorback Football Great Honored Saturday in Little Rock

A Razorback football great will be honored Saturday night in Little Rock.
Green Bay Packer D.J. Williams and the Williams family are honorees at the 7th Annual Amethyst Ball, which benefits the Arkansas Coalition Against Domestic Violence (ACADV).
The ball is being held from 6:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at the Peabody Hotel ballroom. It's theme is "Finding a New Direction for Peace."
Williams and his family fled their Carrollton, Texas home in September 1999 after his mother, Vicky Williams, spent years as a victim of domestic violence. Fearing for her life, Williams laid out a map and told young D.J. to pick the city that the mother and her three children would begin to call home. D.J.'s selection landed the family in Little Rock.
For her courage to escape the abusive environment and her subsequent success in raising her children in a peaceful home, Williams and her children will receive a special award at the Amethyst Ball.
The ball is ACADV's main fundraiser for the year, as it works to eliminate domestic violence and promote healthy families, in partnership with domestic violence shelters around the state of Arkansas.
October is a fitting time for the ball because it is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

The Arkansas Coalition Against Domestic Violence (ACADV) is a nonprofit organization that has served both rural and urban areas of Arkansas since its inception in 1981.
