New research links a pregnant woman's high blood pressure to her children's thinking skills!

Researchers in Finland looked at medical records for women who gave birth in the 1930s and 40s, and compared that to cognitive tests done on the resulting children at ages 20 and 69.

Those whose mothers had high blood pressure during pregnancy scored lower on thinking ability tests throughout adulthood.  The finding was strongest for math-related reasoning.

Hypertension affects about 10% of pregnancies.
