It played out like this Monday night on NBC's "The Voice" when Beebe native Cody Belew realized he was selected to keep performing on the hit show.

Cody: Did you hit it?

Cee Lo: I did

Cody: You Hit it ! Shut your  mouth - you hit it, you hit it, oh my God!

Those were the sounds of jubilation as Cody caught the ear of the final judge choosing the last member of his team.

Cee Lo Green is who he wants to train with going into the battle rounds next week.

"I can win this with Cee Lo!", Cody said.

An exciting night for him, but no one more ecstatic than his mom.

"You know we are all very proud, we have two boys we are both proud of both of them, win lose or draw, sing or not sing," said Lisa Belew.

We called Cody to see how he's doing after that thrilling performance.

"You didn't think you were going to get that turn around, what were your thoughts? My first thought was oh my gosh he hit the button, but it was gonna not count it was too late," he said.

But it did count and now this small town boy is in the middle of seeing years of hard work pay off.

A lot of those dues paid in Ms. Janie Cunningham's music class.

"Cody was in the 5th grade class. Cody was this little dynamo who wanted to sing every time we had something to do he wanted to sing," said Cunningham.

And inspiring these students as well.

"It's great that someone from a small town whose biggest achievement is a birds tine be famous like that," said Colton Hunter.

"It's cool to know that someone from a small town has actually done good with going to college for choir and performing and then making it to The Voice," said Keishaun Green.

While good food cooks up at a local favorite "The Grill," the talk heats up about a local celebrity.

He's always been a really good singer, really talented young man, has a good personality," said Doug Babel, the restaurant owner.

"He's got a great voice," said Dakota Loveston.

"I'm a Cody fan! We love Cody, I've seen him at Cajun's," said Justin Carmody, owner of Conveyor Technology.

"He sang at both my sons' weddings," said Mike Choate.

"Nobody from Arkansas really gets noticed, I think he'll make it all the way," said Roy Moore.

"You can tell by his reaction on the replay he was having an out of body experience," said Lisa Belew.

Cody said, "I have prepared for this moment all my life, this is it!"
