Conway Alzheimer's Walk Raises Awareness and Funding for Local Programs

By: KARK 4 Today
Updated: October 1, 2012
From families, to sororities, to 4-legged friends ... More than 500 participated in this year's Alzheimer's Walk in Conway.

Organizer Melissa Longing, who lost her father to Alzheimer's, says walks like these not only serve as great support for those who have a loved one who has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's, but also help to create awareness.

Officials say more than 100,000 Arkansans are currently diagnosed with Alzheimer's, and money raised at Saturday's walk stays right here in the state to benefit local programs.

The Conway walk garners some of the most participation, surpassing last year's total and raising more than $30,000 this year.
