Arkansas' first lady Ginger Beebe will join the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) at an event honoring Childhood Cancer Awareness Month this afternoon.

Participants will be able to meet the first lady and create a special keepsake.

The two-hour event for childhood cancer survivors and their families, first lady Ginger Beebe, and UAMS Department of Pediatric Oncology staff members begins at 1:30 at the front exterior of the UAMS Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute.

Earlier this year, UAMS opened the UAMS Radiation Oncology Center and became the sole provider of radiation therapy for patients on its campus, including pediatric cancer patients seen at its affiliate Arkansas Children's Hospital. This event will honor these children on the occasion of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.
