It's closing for heating and air conditioning system repairs.
The work will move the Hot Springs National Park Visitor Center to a temporary location in the Lamar Bathhouse at 515 Central Avenue. That's where the Bathhouse Row Emporium is also located. Both are open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Displays in the Lamar exhibit room feature items from the park museum collection that have not been on display in recent years. The exhibits include Hot Springs National Park souvenirs, natural history collections, and architectural objects. These displays will change periodically to feature other items.
The park movies, Valley of Vapors and Taking the Baths will also be shown continuously in the temporary visitor center.
Two tours will be offered each day as well as an afternoon fitness walk.
Daily Programs:
- 11 a.m., Guided outdoor tour
- 1 p.m., Fitness Walk
- 3 p.m., Guided outdoor tour
After work begins, the outdoor guided walk route will include the Grand Promenade and Bathhouse Row, emphasizing the geology of the hot springs and the bathing industry.
All tours will leave from the Lamar Bathhouse.
The Fordyce will be closed 9-12 months.
