North Little Rock: Seventh Street Construction Starts Tuesday

The beginning of major road construction along 7th Street between the east side of Main and Cypress starts after the morning rush hour ends on Tuesday.
The street work will interrupt traffic on that portion of 7th Street for about two-and-a-half months, barring weather issues, which could slow down construction.
Drivers are urged to use 9th Street or Broadway as alternate routes. Afternoon traffic using West 7th (eastbound) going toward 13th Street/North Hills Blvd. is encouraged to consider turning left on Maple Street toward 9th Street; right on 9th Street to the Locust Street Viaduct; and then north to 13th Street/North Hills Blvd.
"The construction on the entire section of roadway will create an attractive environmentally friendly entryway into the City of North Little Rock similar to Main Street, complete with a median and plantings similar to those located on Main Street, and will also be bicycle friendly," says Mike Smith, City Engineer.
The improvements are paid for by a federal grant, and Burkhalter Technology Inc. will do the construction.
