An Arkansas-based ministry is taking the Frisbee to a whole new level.
Almost 20 years ago a simple toss of a toy ignited an idea.
Jackie Gibbs wanted to use the Frisbee to share the gospel. A couple years later, Jackie and his wife started Slip Disc Ministries .
"Scared to death to share my own faith why couldn't we use the Frisbee to do that," explains founder Jackie Gibbs.
Now the duo has set up shop in Beebe, working from their home in hopes of sharing their faith one Frisbee at a time.
"It's kind of neat because we get to help other people in ministry who are sometimes a little nervous or scared about it," adds Geri Gibbs.
And with a simple flip of the wrist Slip Disc Ministries is reaching folks around the world.
"He said I was on a mission trip in Siberia and a baptist preacher from Texas had one of our Frisbees and was ministering to the children of a village there," explains Jackie, of folks who've used the Slip Disc.
The Gibbs can print messages like these in 10 different languages and expect to expand their library as the requests come in.
"We just started seeing how God would use a silly, simple hobby to glorify His name," says Jackie.
And when the Gibbs are just starting to doubt their work, they admit God always answers their prayers, even when times are tough.
"That's just the way the Lord always does. It seems like he sends us a neat story to keep us going and doing the ministry we need to do," says Geri.
"Then a guy will go we had 18 people directly come to Christ with the use of your Frisbee. Then I'm going how can you put a dollar amount on that," adds Jackie.
So as the requests keep coming in, the Gibbs will faithfully meet the need.
