Fayetteville Police say a train hit its emergency brakes, but couldn't stop before it crashed into an SUV on Dickson Street and dragged it some 100 feet along the tracks.
When it finally came to stop, two University of Arkansas students ran to the driver's rescue.
"Whenever I walked out, I thought it was going to be really bad," says Hunter Waddell, who helped pull the woman to safety. "But luckily for her it was a miracle that she wasn't hurt that bad."
Police say the driver claims she didn't see or hear the train or flashing lights before going onto the tracks, but railroad authorities say all the safety measures and signals were working just fine.
The driver was taken in for further questioning and was cited for careless driving.
The investigation is still ongoing.
