Little Rock-based Baptist Health Medical Center (BHMC) has been named as the best hospital in Central Arkansas for treating heart attacks.

The Joint Commission, the nation's oldest and largest healthcare standards-setting and accrediting body, has named BHMC-Little Rock to the prestigious list of "Top Performers in Key Quality Measures" in its annual report on quality and safety in U.S. hospitals.

Specifically, BHMC-Little Rock was cited as being the best full-service medical center in Central Arkansas for treating heart attacks. This accomplishment in being named to such a prestigious designation is a direct result of employees at BHMC-LR whose work makes all the difference in putting quality patient care as their top priority every day.

The hospitals identified as attaining and sustaining excellence in accountability performance represent 18 percent of Joint Commission-accredited hospitals reporting core-measure performance data.

The Top Performer designation is based on performance related to accountability measures for heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia, surgical care, children's asthma care, inpatient psychiatric services, venous thromboembolism care, and stroke care.
