Little Rock city leaders are considering using eminent domain to widen a city road.

At Tuesday's agenda-setting meeting, Director Joan Adcock questioned the city's proposal to use eminent domain to take property along Scott Hamilton Drive.

Right now two pieces of land have been purchased and the city is working to get seven more along Scott Hamilton between J.E. Davis and Baseline.

"When I heard eminent domain, I wanted to make sure we aren't taking anyone's home," City Director Adcock says. "We're not moving anyone out. It's all for streets."

While the city planners say they don't intend to take anyone's home now, they would not guarantee no homes would be taken in the future.

Directors will vote on the issue next Tuesday.
