A family is demanding justice after a woman they called mom, sister, wife and friend was killed during a convenience store robbery over the weekend.

North Little Rock Police continue to investigate, looking for answers after they said 3 armed men walked in an E-Z Mart, left without anything, only to come back in and shoot the clerk, killing her instantly.

Monday (9/24) night was a chance for family and friends to remember 29-year-old Akiya Egeston. It was an emotionally charged night however, fueled by sadness over her death, anger over the murder and hope for answers.

"Y'all know who they are," Akiya's sister, Adia Curry said, directed towards the public. "Somebody please tell us something."

The family grieved for a woman two young children called mom.

Akiya Egeston's husband, Johnathan is forced to stay strong for his kids.

"Two little boys shouldn't be without their mother," he said. "Because now everyday I'm going to have to answer to them where's my momma and why the bad guys take my momma."

North Little Rock Police, who showed their support at the vigil, said those bad guys shot and killed Akiya.

"You didn't only shoot her once, you shot her twice," Johnathan Egeston claimed. "That's telling me they were meaning to kill her."

Curry said, "They took my sister from me."

She might as well have been there for it all.

"I was on the phone with her when it happened," Curry recounted. "I was talking to her. She told me to call the police. I knew from the sound of my sister's voice something was wrong."

A song ended the vigil night, amidst a crowd of family and supporters all asking the same thing: for someone to turn in those responsible.

"They cowards, and I hope the rot in hell," cried Curry. "Cause my sister didn't deserve to die. They left her alive. You came back to do something that was so senseless, for what?"

A ten thousand dollar reward from the E-Z Mart company is just more incentive for anyone to come forward with information.

If you know anything, you're urged to contact North Little Rock Police at (501) 758-1234.
