UPDATE : To clarify this story, Jeremy Goshien is not wanted in connection with these burglaries and has not been charged.  However, Lt. Scotty Courtney with the Saline County Sheriff's Department tells KARK 4 that Jeremy Goshien is a supsect in the crimes.  Lt. Courtney says the investigation is ongoing.

A candidate running for Saline County Sheriff said he thought the race for Sheriff had gotten dirty.

After some posters were plastered all over town, saying he was the grandfather of a young man wanted in connection with buglaries in the area.

"Somebody did it," said, Rodney Goshien, "I've never met the man, I wouldn't know him if I seen him."

The young man has the same last name, "Goshien."

"Which makes me look bad, I'm a grandfather of someone that's out here breaking in houses," said Goshien.

And in order to catch the people who are allegedly committing the crimes, a local homeowner who says he was recently hit by those same people, took matters into his on hands.

"How dare them come up to my house and try to get in my house."

Angry, he went to the sheriff's office and found out two of the suspects had a record.

"These are the mug shots from Pulaski County cause they've been in trouble before," said Mike Coldiron.

So he printed the posters, one of the suspects names, Jeremy Goshien.

"I did this to get attention, nobody done this but me," said Coldiron.

In the beginning, Rodney Goshien thought that the Sheriff, Bruce Pennington may have had something to do with this.

We spoke to Pennington earlier and he claims he was not behind any of the posters.

On July 30, 2012, I had my GPS stolen out of my vehicle. Within 1 week, our neighborhood in East End had 3 burglaries which were all reported. In the weeks following, there have been several vehicles which have been gone through, and neighbors ran off would-be thieves one night. My husband & I have made numerous calls to the Sheriff's office, from the detective assigned to my report all the way to the sheriff with no response. Within approximately 1 month, the Skylite sign went up. We know that the day my GPS was stolen it came to our attention that Mr. Goshien had the TomTom for sale on his Facebook page. We have been unable to get any response from anyone. So I'm very happy Mr. Coldiron is at least making someone pay attention, even if it's a candidate trying to make it political. Should you have any further questions, I can be emailed at lydiawilliamsccr@gmail.com. Thanks for putting this out there.
