Update: Drew County Circuit Clerk Charged with Theft, Abuse of Office

Update (October 10):
Tenth Judicial District Prosecutor Thomas Deen filed criminal charges Tuesday against Drew County Circuit Clerk Pat Savage Montgomery in connection with missing money in the Drew County Circuit Clerk's Office.

Montgomery is charged with felony theft of property, along with abuse of office and falsifying business records, both misdemeanors.

An audit and a criminal investigation are underway concerning the Drew County Circuit Clerk's office.

That's according to a brief news release from 10th Judicial District Prosecutor Thomas Deen.

The criminal investigation, which is being conducted by the State Police, involves a financial audit of the circuit clerk's office, Deen said.
