Updated: September 17, 2012
Members of the Arkansas State football team and coaching staff will join the A-State marching band and spirit groups for a pep rally Thursday, Sept. 20 before ASU's second home game against Alcorn State.

The event will begin at the Heritage Plaza behind the Student on the Arkansas State campus. Members of the football team and coaching staff will also address the crowd.

"Our students showed great enthusiasm at our initial pep rally before the Memphis game, so I think this is an excellent opportunity to start a new tradition here at Arkansas State that everyone can get behind and enjoy," Malzahn said. "Our team appreciates the support shown at these pep rallies, so we hope to see another great crowd on Thursday as we get ready for our game against Alcorn State."

The rally will feature a special presentation from the ASU marching band, and Student Government Association President Hunter Petrus will also speak to the crowd.

A pep rally will be held the Thursday before each home game this season, with the exception of the Red Wolves' matchup against University of Louisiana-Monroe.

"Our fans are amazing, and it's always exciting for us as players to have an opportunity to interact with them," ASU senior quarterback Ryan Aplin said. "We are looking forward to another great game this Saturday against Alcorn State, and these pep rallies really get both the team and our fans fired up for game day."
