Is the line between church and state being crossed when it comes to taxpayer dollars going to faith-based programs for low-income kids?

That was the discussion among some state lawmakers on Monday at the capitol.

Lawmakers talked about the rules governing the Arkansas Better Chance program, designed to help low-income children up to the age of 5.

By law, money from the program can go to faith-based preschools, but those schools or child care centers are not allowed to use those funds for religious activities.

The State Board of Education adopted those rules in early July.
