That was one of several comments John L. Smith made this afternoon during his weekly news conference in Fayetteville.
Coach Smith first stepped up to the microphone and told the media members in the crowd to smile. "Seriously. That just happened," tweeted The Razorback Nation's Adam Alter.
In looking back at the Alabama game, Smith said "We did do some good things. We made a lot of mistakes, too."
Regarding Hog quarterback Tyler Wilson, Smith said, "I don't know that the season rides on whether or not Tyler plays," before continuing, "Tyler looks extremely good. He will go to the field and prep and we are keeping our fingers crossed he will get cleared."
Shortly after, Wilson himself stepped up to the mic, and talked about comments he made after Saturday's game that raised a few eyebrows when he said the team "gave up."
"I can see why some people didn't like me saying what I did after the Bama game. I was going in that room not to speak to the team but to speak to the people. I'm an Arkansas kid. I wanted people to know that is not acceptable here," Wilson said.
"I wanted to say 'give me my helmet. I'm playing. I don't care what anybody says," Wilson said, about watching the team lose.
When Smith returned to the podium, he said "We can still have a great season. Last year, Georgia started 0-2 and made it to the SEC title game."
The team preps this week for Rutgers in Fayetteville Saturday at 6 p.m. on ESPNU.
