Pulaski County Sheriff's Deputies helped an elderly woman make her way home after car troubles left her stranded at a gas station for nearly three days.

Deputies say a 79-year-old woman from El Dorado pulled over at the Exxon on Interstate 530 and Dixon.

When deputies checked on her, she said her car was broken down but she was waiting for help.

They continued to check on her and even tried to make repairs, but the woman refused to leave her car.

Finally, a deputy called a mechanic friend who towed the woman's car back to El Dorado.

"You can't make her leave her car," says Lt. Carl Minden from PCSO. "79 years old, she doesn't want to leave her car. But they tried to check in on her as much as they could, and I guess she was just living in and out of the store, which is kinda sad, but has a good ending."

The Exxon manager says the woman came in to buy donuts and coffee, but didn't mention she was sleeping in her car.
