The Mineral Springs Saratoga School Board in Howard County voted unanimously to close Saratoga High School.

The board voted 7-0 Friday morning after the Arkansas Department of Education said not enough classes were being taught to keep the school open.

State law says a high school has to teach 38 units to hold accreditation, and according to the ADE, Saratoga was only teaching two units, plus allowing students to participate in athletics.

The school board has until Sept. 24 to appeal, but says it won't.
