If you have high energy bills and your home is uncomfortable, Entergy is essentially giving its Arkansas customers money to help change that through their Home Energy Solutions program.

Jane Glover and her husband have lived in their 4 bedroom home in White Hall for 37 years.  When the AC stopped working well and the energy bills got too high, they turned to Entergy and its partner CLEAResult to make their home more efficient.

"They got 4 different measures done, from attic insulation, duct seals, air seals, new units involved," said CLEAResult's Greg Ballard.  "Consequently, they were able to reduce their Entergy bill by 50%"

Glover said, "We had 2 months it was $600.  After we got this, it's cut in half.  Our 1st bill was $148 after we had this done."

Through Entergy's incentives, the Glovers saved $3,562 dollars total on all the improvements.

They worked with a participating contractor who assessed their home and found the money saving coupons right for them.

To find out if your home needs to be made more efficient, first take a look at your energy bill and figure how much you're paying per square foot.

"If your cost per square feet is about 7 cents, you're doing pretty well," said Ballard.  "If you're up around 10 cents, you need some help."

And the help the Glovers received is making a big difference.  "I just enjoy my home more now," said Glover.  "It's more comfortable than since I've been here."

So far more than 1600 Entergy Arkansas customers have taken advantage of the Home Energy Assistance program.
