Suspected Texarkana Taxi Bandit Arrested

A Texarkana man is behind bars, charged with three counts of robbery.
John Cheatom, 23, turned himself in at the Texarkana Police Department on Tuesday.
He is charged in a string of incidents in which someone called for a cab and then robbed the driver.
The first incident happened back in May at The Links apartment complex,. In that case, someone called for a cab and then physically restrained the driver, demanded money and then ran away.
Three months later, on August 22 and 24, there were two similar incidents at Village Park South and the 700 block of East Street.
During both incidents the individual called for a taxi cab and then physically restrained the driver before demanding money and running away.
Texarkana Police say Cheatom contacted detectives before turning himself in yesterday.
