A man from Baxter County is dead after a logging truck tire exploded while he was changing it.

The Baxter County Sheriff's Office (BCSO) identifies the man as Jackie Ray Nash, 31, of Big Flat.

The BCSO says it happened Saturday at a home on County Road 121 when Nash was helping Rick Freeman, 58, with the tire. Freeman was also slightly injured.

As the two men were changing the tire, the rim blew apart and the force of the blast threw both of them to the ground, the BCSO said.

Investigators believe Nash was killed instantly.

Freeman was treated at the scene for non-life threatening injuries.
