$51,729 Raised in KARK's Food 4 Kids Drive

By: KARK 4 News
Updated: September 7, 2012
KARK's third annual Food 4 Kids Drive was a big success, bringing in a grand total of $51,279.

The three-day telethon was Monday through Wednesday, with proceeds going to the Arkansas Rice Depot's Food for Kids* backpacks program. The initiative provides new backpacks and "kid-friendly" ready-to-eat foods to participating schools.

The Food 4 Kids Drive is part of KARK's "4 The Greater Good" initiative. The University of Phoenix sponsors the Arkansas Rice Depot's Food for Kids program.

Our three days of coverage included live reports from the Arkansas Rice Depot and an on-air telethon/phone bank each day that allowed viewers to call in and donate.

Thank you, Arkansas for making it a big success!

*Through the Food for Kids program, the Rice Depot provides backpacks filled with a weekend's worth of healthy food to children in need who might otherwise go hungry when families cannot provide food at home.
