Jessica Dean's Healthy Living: Vaccines in Children

By: Jessica Dean, KARK 4 Today
Updated: September 7, 2012
A majority of toddlers are fully vaccinated, according to a new report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The latest data show vaccination rates for preventable diseases, like measles, chicken pox and hepatitis, remain above 90%.

More toddlers are getting vaccines that were recently recommended by the CDC, like the rotavirus vaccine.

Children who live below the poverty line were less likely to be vaccinated and rates for the measles, mumps and rubella shot varied by region. Fifteen states fell short of the 90% goal for the measles vaccine, Arkansas is not one of those states.

Overall just 1% of  19 -to- 35 month olds had received no vaccines at all.
