Friday is International Literacy Day and First Lady Ginger Beebe joined the Alex Foundation and the Arkansas Reading Association to distribute over 1,000 books to kids.

International Literacy day was created in 1967 as a way to encourage the importance of reading and literacy.

Though literacy day traditionally falls on September 8th, this year it's been moved up a day to September 7th.
