What they did find was a lowered risk pesticide residues in those organic foods. In total, organic produce is 30% less likely to carry pesticide residue than other fruits and vegetables. Organic chicken and pork is 67% less likely to have bacteria resistant to common antibiotics.
Nutritionists say it could take years to link pesticides and antibiotics to long term health problems, but they also say these are issues we have to consider today.
According to those who study food purchasing preferences, millennials, those under age 30 are actually driving the trend; they are a very savvy, technology driven generation and they want to eat more pure foods.
Organics are definitely part of that decision process.
