According to AAA, gas prices for the holiday hit an all-time high this year, and prices went up 31 cents a gallon during the month of August.
A spokesman said there were a number of factors that drove the increase, from refinery fires and pipeline closures to Hurricane Isaac in the gulf.
Right now, Arkansas drivers are paying an average of $3.65 a gallon.
