The Garland County Sheriff's Office (GCSO) is investigating a shooting that left one man dead and another in jail.

It happened around 3:30 Monday afternoon at the Pop-A-Top Tavern in the 3700 block of Park Avenue in Hot Springs.

Witnesses say that the victim, James Toby Fowlks, 46, and the suspect, Alan Ray Edwards, 58, got into an argument and

Edwards left. He returned a short time later, with a gun, and shot Fowlks, who died at the scene.

Edwards was subdued by patrons of the business and was injured in the process, the GCSO said. He was taken to the

hospital for treatment and deputies were guarding him there at last report.

Edwards faces charges of first degree murder and attempted first degree murder.
