Updated: August 31, 2012
If you happen to gaze into the Friday night sky and notice the full moon, it might be worth noting that this one is just a little different than most.

It's a blue moon, which is the second occurrence of a full moon within the same calendar month.

According to SmithsonianMag.com, this will be the last blue moon until the year 2015.

The first full moon of this month occurred on Aug. 2.
