A funeral today in Morrilton will remember a Vietnam War soldier who died in the conflict 37 years ago.

The remains of PFC James R. Maxwell were found earlier this year off the coast of Cambodia and returned to his family this month.

Maxwell was 18 and serving in the U.S. Marine Corps when he was killed May 15, 1975. The helicopter he was riding in was shot down in the "Mayaguez Incident."

After many years of extensive military effort, PFC Maxwell and the remains of others were found over the past few months.

Maxwell's survivors include his brothers, Paul and Gary Maxwell and sisters Patricia Cates and Janie Estes, all four of Center Ridge.

Funeral services with full Military Honors will be held at two o'clock this afternoon at Mt. View Missionary Baptist Church with burial at Woolverton Mountain Cemetery.

Governor Beebe has ordered flags across the state be flown at half-staff today in Maxwell's honor.
