Pulaski County will be adding 12 news jobs after a vote by the quorum court Tuesday night approved the money for new jailers.

The jobs start at nearly $30,000 a year and come with good benefits.

After 8 weeks of training, you could be patrolling the jail cells.

While some detention deputies say the job can get rough, with emotions and tempers often running high, overall they like it.

A young female detention deputy said she's rarely intimidated, and as a woman she even feels like she has the upper hand.

"The men respect women more it seems. I don't know why, I guess with the men dealing with men there's more testosterone but with the women, they pretty much respect women, so it's easier," says Detention Deputy Shamille Taylor.

The new positions will be posted by the end of the week, and the jail hopes to have them filled by the end of the year.
