Rep. Griffin Honored for Standing Up for America's Seniors

A grassroots organization of more than 400,000 seniors nationwide is honoring Arkansas Second District congressman.
Rep. Tim Griffin has received the 2012 Standing Up for America's Seniors Award from RetireSafe.
Griffin acknowledged receipt of the award by issuing the following statement:
"As an advocate for real, patient-centered health care reform and a proud supporter of the House plan to save and strengthen Medicare, it's an honor to accept this award. My mother relies on Medicare, and it's critical that we preserve the program for future generations in a way that doesn't change the benefits promised to current retirees. That's why I've voted repeatedly to repeal President Obama's health care law, which cut more than $700 billion dollars from Medicare and turned seniors' medical decisions over to an unelected, unaccountable government panel in Washington."
In July, Griffin introduced bipartisan legislation to lower Medicare costs by helping seniors get and stay healthy.
In March, the House voted to repeal the Independent Payment Advisory Board (IPAB), a health care rationing panel created by President Obama's health care law.
