Reducing your skin's exposure to the sun is the most important thing you can do to keep it healthy, the Arkansas Department of Health says. This also lowers your risk for skin cancer. The health department has some tips to help you prevent damage to your skin:
Avoid midday sun (11:00 a.m.- 3:00 p.m.)
Use sunscreen when you are outside, not just at the pool
Wear sunscreen even on cloudy days
Use sunscreen that protects against both UVA and UVB rays and has SPF of at least 15
Wear a wide-brim hat outdoors
