A Lonoke County family lost its barn to a fire believed to have been sparked by lightning* early today.

It happened around 5:30 this morning along Highway 319 in Austin.

KARk 4 viewer Chad Champlin sent in the video showing the flames leaping more than 30 feet into the sky.

He tells us that no animals were inside the barn but says there were some cows in a field nearby that were not hurt.

*The National Weather Service in Little Rock said today via Twitter that the storms overnight and this morning produced about 25,000 cloud-to-ground lightning strikes in Arkansas.
