Nearly 100 soldiers with the Arkansas National Guard took part in a send-off ceremony before preparing to deploy to Afghanistan on Friday.

At the National Guard Armory in Conway this morning, 20 soldiers said their goodbyes before loading up and heading out of state to begin pre-mobilazation training.

The unit is expected to deploy overseas within the next two months, and will serve about nine months in the Afghanistan theater of operations.
