Benton Intersection to be Closed for Construction Starting Monday Morning

A reconstruction project will close a Benton intersection for approximately three weeks starting Monday Aug.13, according to the Mayor's office.
The Intersection of Smithers Drive and Military will be closed to traffic Monday morning at 7:00 and will remain closed for approximately three weeks to allow for reconstruction of the intersection.
Traffic flow between Military Road and Smithers will be maintained by using Kyle Road and Longview Drive.
Barricades and detour signs will be in place during construction.

Do they not realize that school starts in a week and a half and one of the Benton elementary schools is on Smithers? You would think they would pick a different set of weeks than to have two of the three weeks they chose be while school is in session, therefore disrupting school traffic.
