It is well known that women need calcium as they get older to prevent osteoporosis and it's vital that women get screened early for breast cancer.
But what diseases should men watch out for and what foods should they eat? Doctors from the American Dietetic Association have a list of foods which will help men with the nutrients they need.
Oysters, lean beef and pork help men receive their intake of zinc that is essential in protecting against cellular damage which could lead to prostate cancer. Bananas, which contain potassium and magnesium, help, regulate heartbeat and blood pressure.
Fish such as salmon, tuna, mackerel and herring are a good source of vitamin D which helps prevent cancer and type 2 diabetes.
