The Dumas Police Department is investigating an apparent attempted murder-suicide.

It happened late Sunday night, just before midnight on Briarwood Circle.

Police say officers responding to a shooting found Jamisha Phillips, 18, with multiple gunshot wounds.

The woman told police she had been shot by Keondrick Markieth Tanner, 23, of Dumas.

Phillips was taken to Delta Memorial Hospital before being transferred to a Little Rock hospital.

A search was made for Tanner but police did not find him until an elderly woman called police around six o'clock this morning to report someone laying alongside her home.

When officers arrived, they found Tanner with what appeared to be a single, self-inflicted, gunshot wound to the head.

His body has been sent to the State Medical Examiner's Office for further an autopsy.

Police are still investigating the incident.
