The fire is now out after burning a two-acre area.
Concern for the firefighters battling the flames in 100+-degree heat prompted the need to bring in more water for them to drink and additional firefighters so they could work in rotation.

Firefighters with the Little Rock Fire Department are protecting homes as they battle a grass fire on the southwest side of town.
The blaze is burning off Chicot Road and Shady Grove Road in an area that is south of Mabelvale Cutoff Road and west of Geyer Springs Road.
