Smart911 Now Available in Conway Area

By: KARK 4 News
Updated: July 16, 2012
People who live in and around Conway now have access to Smart911.

The free national database that gives 9-1-1 dispatchers and first responders critical rescue information about a person in the event of an emergency, is now available to residents of Conway and Faulkner County.

Smart911 will provide information tailored to you or members of your household using a Smart Safety Profile. You set up your own private profile online (click here).

Information from the Smart Safety Profile will be made available to 9-1-1 dispatchers in the Conway Emergency Operations Center and emergency responders ONLY in the event of an emergency.

The Smart Safety Profile could include information such as how to find your residence, pictures of family members and specific medical information.

"The Smart911 system will be much easier to use than the premise alert system we currently use. It will make it easier for citizens to make critical information about individuals in their home available to dispatchers and will be especially helpful for those who have family members with disabilities so that their information can be relayed to first responders as they arrive on scene," Conway Police Department Chief of Police AJ Gary said.

Smart911 is a free and secure service that has been paid for by the State of Arkansas. The service will be available statewide within the next year. Any citizen can create a Smart911 profile at any time by going online (click here).

For those who have questions or need help getting signed up, call the Conway Police Department at (501) 513-3583.
