Members of the Little Rock Nine delivered keynote speeches during the 2nd annual Civil Rights Heritage Commemoration.
In addition to the 'Nine', one of five freedom riders who fought to desegregate interstate bus lines attended Saturday's event.
Also today, plaques for each of the Little Rock Nine and three of their supporters were unveiled.
"I think markers in history are important for all of us," said Dr. Terrence Roberts. "Because everything that happens is in anticipation of what happens next, so that's a starting point. We start at that marker and move to the next one."
The student recipients of the Little Rock Nine scholarship were also recognized.
