Beebe stopped in Conway Tuesday to talk about improving the state's response to children suffering from mental illness.
Parents with her described a state school system that usually only addresses their children's behavior from discipline standpoint when someone with (i.e.) bi-polar disorder acts out. They say schools, the medical community and the juvenile justice system need to work together and share information in order to truly boost wellness. The listening tour will spend the next five weeks travelling Arkansas. Findings will then be complied into a report and a list of policy recommendations that will be presented to the governor. Next Tuesday she'll be visiting Jonesboro, Paragould and Blytheville.
