HIGGINSON -- Due to continuing controversy, Higginson Mayor Randall Homsley recently asked the city council to consider lowering his salary and removing the amount he receives for police work compensation.

However, the council has elected to keep his salary the same at $525 a month.

"I will no longer receive compensation for my police work," Homsley said during Monday's meeting. "With that being said, that doesn't reduce the amount of police work I will be doing. If you need me, feel free to call me. There's just been so much controversy over the amount I receive for police work, we decided to reduce it,"

Homsley called for a motion to make the salary change, but the council rejected the idea.
