Summer Scam Alert for North Little Rock Electric Customers

This scam uses President Obama's name in an attempt to convince consumers that President Obama authorized the government to pay their utility bills.
There is no such program.
If you or someone you know is contacted by a person asking for your private information, hang up and notify the North Little Rock Electric Department or the North Little Rock Police.
The scammers are using flyers, text messages and phone calls to contact as many people as possible in the area.
Those contacted by this scam are asked to provide their social security numbers or other personal identifying information in exchange for a bank routing number.
New to this scam is that the scammers are asking for the red number on the back of your social security card. This number is a sequential control number and used to verify the legitimacy of the card.
The North Little Rock Electric Department urges customers to NEVER give their personal information to strangers. Also as a reminder, the North Little Rock Electric Department will NEVER ask for a customer's credit card or other personnel information over the phone.
Customers who believe they are a victim of this scam can notify the proper authorities, such as the local police. If you believe your North Little Rock Electric account has been affected, call (501) 975-8888 to speak with a customer service representative.
