Tourism Impact Grows in Hot Springs

The
report, completed by The BaxStarr Consulting Group, LLC, of Chicago, found that
the visitor's program is a very successful activity environment. 2.47 million
tourists visited the city just last year. $12.3 Million was generated in
locally collected taxes in 2011, which is up 5% from the $11.4 collected taxes
in 2009.
Larry
DeWitt, Chairman of the Hot Springs Advertising and Promotion Commission says "Hot
Springs' tourism program continues to provide a strong underpinning for our
local economy."
The
increase in visitor activity also added 6,912 jobs in the city and county which
is also a 5% increase from the 6,800 jobs in 2009.
Other revenue
came from money generated through restaurants, hotels, and motels.
