FAYETTEVILLE - The track and field season continued last weekend with the 2012 North American, Central American and Caribbean (NACAC) Under-23 Championships in Guanajuato, Mexico. Makeba Alcide finished third in the heptathlon and Ivanique Kemp was fourth in the 100-meter hurdles, while signee Sparkle McKnight ran to a fourth-place finish at 400 meters.

Representing her native country of Saint Lucia, Alcide completed her fifth heptathlon of the season with 5,522 points. She finished first or second in five of the seven events, including wins in the high jump and long jump. In the 100-meter hurdles, Alcide posted a personal-best time of 13.87. Four of the five-fastest times of her career in the event have come this year.

Kemp, representing the Bahamas, crossed the line of the 100-meter hurdles in a wind-aided time of 13.34 to collect the fourth-place finish. Earlier this season, she set the national record for the Bahamas with her time of 13.13 at the NCAA Championships. Kemp was also part of the Bahamas' second-place finish in the 4x100-meter relay (45.71).

A member of Arkansas' 2012-13 incoming class, McKnight was fourth at 400 meters in 52.79. She qualified for the championship race with a run of 53.78 in the preliminary round. McKnight was the 2012 NJCAA runner-up at the distance for South Plains College. She also helped Trinidad and Tobago to a runner-up finish in the 4x400-meter relay (3:33.03).
