Cantrell Road Bridge Work near Downtown Little Rock

Updated: July 9, 2012
The Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) is rebuilding a section of Cantrell Road near downtown Little Rock to improve safety.

The job started today and will take until July 30th to complete.

The AHTD says for about two weeks during the course of construction, it plans to close the River Trail at the Union Pacific Railroad Overpass (east of the Episcopal School Campus) while they build new storm sewers and sidewalks.

The AHTD plans to open a temporary trail through the area until that portion of the work is complete. However, construction will continue for several months to come.

Everyone involved is aware that the trail is very popular and the AHTD is trying to minimize the time the trail is closed.

Unfortunately, this is the only route through the area because of the railroad tracks. The nearest other crossing is at the Markham and 3rd Streets viaduct.
